Agyaat vaas, Near Hatu Peak (Narkanda) Shimla, Himachal Pardesh

Every evening around the dusk, and often in the early morning, you can hear barking deer within yards of 'Agyaat Vaas'. Morning are also the time Langoor monkeys pay us a visit and they can also be seen through out the day on the numerous nature trails stemming from 'Agyaat Vaas'. Although to the newcomer they may appear as rather large, they are harmless and timid in this region. It's rare (considered lucky ) to see a snow leopard or sloth bear. But if you are concerned for your safety in the jungle, you can always carry a personal alarm which being a high pitched, unnatural sound, wards off predators. There are many similar wild animals and birds throughout the world but some native animals to this region include Barking Deer, Musk Deer, Snow leopard, Sloth Bear, Flying Fox, Porcupine, Striped Hyena, Himalayan Weasel and Langoor Monkeys.

To list the birds are Bulbul, Golden Oriel, Himalayan Yellow built Magpie, Shrikes, Loris, Flower Peckers, Sunbirds, Barbells, Wood Peckers, Vultures and Eagles.


Flora

The earth supporting 'Agyaat Vaas' is visibly rich in minerals and semi-precious stones such as crystals, chlorite schist and pink, white and amber quartzite, but for obvious reasons, there is a forestry law protecting their excavation. The area surrounding the 'Agyaat Vaas' is rich is rich in medicinal plant such as Thelitrum, Selvia, Companulata, Rora, Webcana, Geranium, Heracelean, Lallii, Orchids, Bracket Fungus and Mashrooms.
