Agyaat vaas, Near Hatu Peak (Narkanda) Shimla, Himachal Pardesh
There is a very interesting history before Agyaat Vaas was put to world, The two brothers Daulat Chauhan and Partap Chauhan who are the owners of this land, came to know about the land through a business man who approached them and asked if he could buy their ancestral land which five generation back , the family had used for potato farming. As the land is so remote (over 10,000ft height) the family had forgotten about it , but the business man's interest made the brothers investigate. Being inspired by its beauty and the spectacular view of Inner Himalayas both the brothers became determined to bring nature lovers to enjoy its beauty.
Daulat Chauhan
Daulat Chauhan was born in Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pardesh, in 1962. After completing his education there , Daulat returned to his native village and continued the family traditional business of horticulture in an area renown for the best growing apples in the country. He is married and the eldest of three brothers . Since the death of his mother, he also spends time running the family home and caring his elderly father and severely handicapped brother, 'Fishu'. He is an experience trekker, taking individuals and groups into remote regions of Himalayas.
He says
"Agyaat Vaas' is a unique place and I'm very protective in preserving an area of land in which many people have commented that they feel a divine presence. May be it's also the spectacular view of Himalayas that makes my soul feel so at home here. It is a custom in my native spiritual tradition to treat our guests as if God were paying us a visit. So, in this sense, I invite you to share the beauty and spiritual inspiration that this land offers and to feel the living presence of the Divine here."
Partap Chauhan
Partap Chauhan was born in Shimla in 1966. After finishing a sociology degree at university , he married his college sweetheart 'Bubbly' , Being maverick by nature, he went back to his native village to work on the family land. Having a deep love of nature and Himalayas Partap decided, together with his elder brother Daulat, to start a tourism business on a land which they discovered through a business man who gave a suitable proposal to buy their remote land which was of no use to the brothers. Partap became determined to bring nature lovers to enjoy it .
He says
"I had lot of love and freedom from my parents and on reflection, I was rather spoilt. I was a good student until I went to college and there I became rebel. After a brief spell in army, I went back to family farming business and my life changed with the responsibility of family life. When I saw some of my friends going out into the business world, a sense of inferiority arose, but I couldn't find a sense of direction that where my location lay. When we re-discovered our ancestral land near 'Hatu Peak' my elder brother came up with the idea of starting a camping business which gave me more direction and interest in work and I became inspired and a sense of destiny arose. Although many people laughed on us , because the land was so remote at that time with no road/access, water or electricity we still preserved. My parents and my wife Bubbly , has always been my main source of inspiration and with their constant loving support, we took financial risks that have come of fruition. With God's grace and the encouragement of the people who began to visit us and could see our vision unfolding, our confidence grew and so Agyaat Vaas was put out into the world. It's widely known that tourism is over- developing in indigenous areas globally, and this has made us determined to protect this unique land and leave it as undisturbed as possible. My desire is to cater for people who love nature and peace. So, I promise you not only the best of Phari(hills) hospitality, but that after your stay with us, you will return home physically renewed with fresh inspiration to continue your daily life."
